Reiki: A Japanese Heritage for Well-Being

Reiki

Chakra Alignment

It is important to keep in mind that it’s not magic, it’s not the answer to all problems, and it does not replace traditional medicine.

Reiki, which originated in Japan in the early 20th century thanks to Mikao Usui, is a method that aids in healing and deep relaxation. It relies on the transmission of universal life energy, or “Ki”. This practice, both ancestral and innovative, blends Eastern wisdom and meditation techniques to provide a holistic approach to care. It does not replace a doctor, even though this method is recognized for its numerous benefits, such as:

  • Reducing stress and anxiety
  • Improving sleep quality
  • Alleviating pain
  • And accelerating the physical healing process

It also does not replace a mental health professional, even though, emotionally, Reiki facilitates:

  • Emotion management
  • Improvement in mental clarity
  • And helps overcome internal blockages

This practice, harmonizing the body, mind, and emotions, offers a path towards balance and well-being.

An Opportunity to Open New Doors

A Reiki session is a unique and personalized experience, adapted to the specific needs of each individual. It usually unfolds in three phases:

  • An initial consultation to identify needs
  • The laying of hands on or above the clothed body
  • And a moment of sharing at the end of the session

Reiki practitioners gently place their hands on different parts of the body, starting from the head and moving down to the feet, thus allowing an energetic rebalancing. The setting of the session, often calm and soothing with the use of candles, incense, soft music, or essential oils, contributes to the effectiveness of the practice. Reiki sessions offer a space for relaxation. They provide a complement to individuals in their journey of emotional, mental, and physical healing.

Reiki in Everyday Life

In a gentle and respectful manner, this practice is accessible to everyone. However, it is not recommended to perform a session on:

  • A pregnant woman before three months of pregnancy
  • On a fracture, it is necessary to wait until the bone is healed
  • And just after or before a surgery

My personal experience with Reiki has been quite profound. I was able to develop my sensitivity and refine my intuition. There really was a before and after, as my entourage can attest. It didn’t connect me to anything; it just allowed me to be more attentive to the world around me. Reiki integrates seamlessly into my life when I need to manage my stress or when I’m not feeling well.

And, it’s because this method has brought me so much that today, and for several years now, I share it through unique sessions. Each time, I am pleasantly surprised by the moment I spend with the person. Being a coach and a psychotherapy practitioner, Reiki would seem to oppose these learnings. But the reason I continue is the incredible power I observe in the effects of Reiki on those I accompany.

In conclusion, Reiki can be, for some, an ally in the search for deep relaxation and emotional support.
